Qui-Gon Jinn and Anakin Skywalker put their plan to enter the Boonta Eve Podrace and Qui-Gon explores Anakin’s origins with Shmi in this segment from The Phantom Menace.
In the latest installment of our series celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Phantom Menace, we are looking at Qui-Gon and Anakin’s hustle of Watto. Qui-Gon and Anakin team up to convince Watto to enter Anakin in the Boonta Eve Podrace, but they aren’t exactly forthcoming with all the details. Also, Qui-Gon has a few tricks of his own. Later, Shmi Skywalker and Qui-Gon discuss Anakin’s heritage and his apparent abilities as a Jedi. Even though there isn’t much in the way of action in this scene, it is full of important details and foreshadowing for this movie and Anakin’s future going forward.
