Ni’Var is about to rejoin the Federation when a last second demand throws a wrench in negotiations. Also, Tilly’s cadet training mission crash lands.
After months of negotiation, Ni’Var is the verge of rejoining the Federation. However, President T’Rina informs President Rillak of the Federation that Ni’Var has a last second requirement that becomes a deal breaker. Saru and Michael Burnham are on hand though, and the two craft a diplomatic solution. Meanwhile, Lt. Tilly is still struggling with feelings of loss, and Dr. Culber suggests she volunteer to lead a training mission for the academy. She accepts and takes Adira with her only for her shuttle to crash on an inhospitable moon. There are plenty of opportunities for growth in this episode.
