La’An Noonien Singh and a Captain Kirk from an alternate timeline are thrown back into the past to investigate a temporal anomaly that could change the future and doom the Federation.
Lt. La’An Noonien has a thankless job on the U.S.S. Enterprise. She is the one that receives and handles the complaints about crew members from other crew members. It is exhausting, and just when she is feeling worn out by the role, she finds herself thrust into an adventure in another timeline. Even more, she must team up with this alternate reality’s Captain James T. Kirk to investigate the anomaly in the past. It is a fascinating episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds that pays homage to so many stories that made Star Trek great.
In this episode, we discuss:
- How this episode is an homage to “City on the Edge of Forever,”
- La’An Noonien Singh’s thankless role as security officer on the Enterprise,
- The performance of Paul Wesley as Captain James T. Kirk,
- The interplay of the investigation between La’An and Kirk as they investigate what happened in the past,
- Commander Pelia’s role and some of her backstory,
- The role of the Romulans in this episode, and
- The resolution of this episode.
