Star Trek: Lower Decks reunites its original lower deckers in a mission gone wrong to a cave, and the four friends take turns telling stories while they try to escape.
For most of season four of Star Trek: Lower Decks, the original four ensigns, now lieutenants, have been broken up and sent on other missions. In episode eight, Mariner, Boimler, Rutherford, and Tendi are assigned to carry out a mission to a cave to study moss. Despite Mariner’s complaints that “cave missions suck,” she tags along, and it is no surprise when the entire team is trapped. The four of them take this as an opportunity to catch up while they search for a way out and end up telling four different stories than none of the others knew anything about. Is the original band of lower deckers drifting apart, or is this an opportunity for them to rekindle old friendships?
