Warp Trails #107: Lower Decks – “A Few Badgeys More” – 0407

by Warp Trails

The three rogue AI’s of Star Trek: Lower Decks, Badgey, Agimus, and Peanut Hamper, return to torment the crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos.

In the second half of each season of Star Trek: Lower Decks, a new AI arrives to cause trouble, and in some cases terrorize, the crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos. Whether it was the exocomp Peanut Hamper becoming selfish and betraying the crew, Rutherford’s Microsoft “Clippy” inspired Badgey, or the desktop PC bound Agimus, the crew has had more than their fair share of robots and programs bent on their demise. This season is a little different though. There is no new rogue AI. Instead, Lower Decks brought back all three of their past AI antagonists to give Cerritos trouble in this week’s episode.

Jay Sheppard from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Case Files, Enjoy Stuff, and Superhero Suite podcasts and author of the Sci-Fi Saturdays, MCU Location Scout, and 31 Days of Horror columns on RetroZap joins us for this discussion.

In this episode, we discuss:

  • Jay’s thoughts on season four of Star Trek: Lower Decks,
  • More information about the mysterious vessel destroying ships across the galaxy,
  • The appearance of the Bynar and a brief history of their appearances in Star Trek,
  • The absence of T’Lyn in the past few episodes of Lower Decks,
  • Boimler and Tendi’s mission to the Daystrom Institute to attend Peanut Hamper’s parole hearing and hear what Agimus has to say about the mysterious vessel,
  • Agimus’s attempt to take over worlds to impress Peanut Hamper,
  • Rutherford’s attempts to stop Badgey with Mariner in tow, and
  • Badgey nearly conquers the galaxy and ascends
