Warp Trails #104: Lower Decks – “Something Borrowed, Something Green” – 0404

by Warp Trails

Tendi takes Mariner and T’Lyn on a rare trip to Orion for her sister’s wedding while Boimler and Rutheford engage in diplomacy via the holodeck.

Tendi has always been the bubbly and eager member of the Lower Decks gang. Prior episodes have teased a past that is built much more on a stereotypical Orion upbringing as a pirate and assassin, which is something Tendi has always been eager to keep under wraps. This episode blows the cover right off of Tendi’s past when Starfleet sends her back to Orion for her sister’s wedding. The only issue is that Tendi’s sister, D’Erika, has been kidnapped, and Tendi must resort to all the old ways she has run from to track her down. Add to the mix an eager Mariner and a curious T’Lyn, and the search becomes amazingly fun. Back on the Cerritos, Boimler and Rutherford learn how to problem solve in the holodeck when they both dress up as Mark Twain. It’s another fun episode of Star Trek: Lower Decks, and we are diving into the details on this episode of Warp Trails.

In this episode, we discuss:

  • The IT nature of Captain Freeman’s mission to Corazonia to fix Vexilon,
  • Lieutenant Boimler’s first away mission as the commanding officer,
  • Provisional Lieutenant T’Lyn’s role as part of Boimler’s team,
  • Rutherford, Mariner, and Tendi’s task of scanning isolinear chips,
  • The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine deep cut references in this episode, and
  • What might have made this episode of Lower Decks just a little better.
