In the second episode of season two of Light & Magic, George Lucas, ILM, and their crew endure the reaction to The Phantom Menace and prepare for Attack of the Clones and more.
We continue to be blown away by the documentary series “Light & Magic.” In this episode of Podcast Stardust, we discuss the second episode from season two. Fresh off The Phantom Menace debuting in theaters, George Lucas, ILM, and Ahmed Best deal with the backlash to Jar Jar Binks. Caution: there is a difficult discussion around how Ahmed Best initially handled the vitriol with which people approached him and Jar Jar. After that, ILM moves on to produce incredible effects that lead to Twister and The Perfect Storm. Finally, Lucasfilm and ILM begin their work on Attack of the Clones, and that means finding a better way to bring everyone’s favorite diminutive Jedi Master to life on the big screen.
