Anakin, Ahsoka, Aayla, and the clones defend the Lurmen from the Separatists whether they want to be defended or not in a clash of philosophical ideals.
Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, his Padawan Ahsoka Tano, and Jedi General Aayla Secura find themselves stranded with some clones on a remote world and in the company of the Lurmen in “Defenders of Peace,” episode 14 of season one of The Clone Wars. The Lurmen adhere to a pacifist lifestyle, and their leader, Tee Watt Kaa, does not believe the Jedi to be the protectors of the peace they claim to be. This philosophical difference is tolerable until the Separatists show up. Although the Separatists, under the leadership of Lok Durd (George Takei), initially only demonstrate a desire to control the Lurmen as subjects, they have something more sinister in mind. The result is that Anakin and his fellow Jedi must make a choice between their belief in defending the innocent and honoring the Lurmen ideal of pacifism. We are discussing all this and more in this episode of Podcast Stardust.
In this fully armed and operational episode of Podcast Stardust, we discuss:
- The introduction of Lok Durd, voiced by Star Trek’s George Takei,
- The Defoliator, a new Separatist weapon,
- The quality of the action scenes and the lighting in this episode,
- A clash of philosophical ideals between the Jedi and the Lurmen, and
- Other reasons why we love this episode of The Clone Wars.
