The Battle of Jakku will explore the final battle of the Galactic Civil War in the pages of Marvel comics starting this October. We are discussing what we know and how this works with existing canon.
Later this year, Marvel will bring to an end both their Star Wars comic and their Darth Vader comic when each series reaches issue #50. Coincidentally, both of those comics bring their respective stories up to the events of Return of the Jedi. The question has been “what comes next for Star Wars comics?” Star Wars fans now have an answer. Marvel is starting a limited series that will tell the story of the last battle of the Galactic Civil War with The Battle of Jakku. In this episode of Podcast Stardust, we are discussing what has been teased, what details have been released, and how this story potentially fits in with the Star Wars canon as we know it.
In this fully armed and operational episode of Podcast Stardust, we discuss:
- The announcement that the Battle of Jakku is coming to Marvel comics,
- How this comic will work with canon novels such as Chuck Wendig’s Aftermath and Alexander Freed’s Alphabet Squadron,
- Some of the teases from the press release and the descriptions of the issues,
- The announcement of three new graphic novels from Dark Horse adapting the prequel trilogy movies, The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith,
- The reveal of The Edge of Balance: Premonition, the latest manga entry for The High Republic, and
- The cover for the new Star Wars Encyclopedia.
