In the aftermath of the podrace, Anakin is freed, Darth Maul attacks, and the Jedi deliver the Queen of Naboo to Coruscant. We are breaking it down in part seven of our The Phantom Menace series.
Our series celebrating Star Wars: The Phantom Menace for its 25th anniversary continues. Anakin Skywalker is victorious! After winning the Boonta Eve Classic, the celebration continues in the podracing hangar. From there, Qui-Gon approaches Watto to settle up on their bet. After that is resolved, Qui-Gon breaks the news to Anakin and his mother Shmi that he is no longer a slave. In this episode of Podcast Stardust, we discuss the decision put before Anakin and his acceptance of the offer to train as a Jedi and his subsequent reluctance to leave his mother. From there, this segment discusses Darth Maul’s first assault on the Jedi, Anakin and Padmé’s discussion aboard the Queen’s ship, and the arrival at Coruscant.
We are joined by Dan Zehr, host of Coffee with Kenobi and Star Wars author, for this discussion.
