We discuss Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon with an emphasis on the Star Wars influences in the movie and whether we think it would have worked as a Star Wars movie.
In 2012, Zack Snyder pitched an idea for a Star Wars movie to Lucasfilm. His vision told the story of a remote farming colony on a moon that is threatened by a galactic empire. Despite his enthusiasm, Lucasfilm passed on the project. Among the reasons why was that Snyder’s proposed movie would be rated R. However, Snyder tucked his idea away and ended up developing it into a two film project that debuted on Netflix in December of 2023. This movie became Rebel Moon. In this episode of Podcast Stardust, we discuss Rebel Moon and the Star Wars influences we noticed while watching it.
