The topic of rebooting Star Wars has made the rounds recently after a filmmaker suggested that is what Star Wars needs right now. We discuss whether or not we agree.
The actor’s strike is ongoing, so Star Wars news is still slow to trickle out. However, with the end of the writer’s strike, there has been discussion of Star Wars projects to come in the future and Star Wars films that never were. Recently, producer and director Matthew Vaughn made comments about the direction of Star Wars, what he thinks it needs, and what type of Star Wars movie he would make if given the chance. In this episode of Podcast Stardust, we are reacting to his comments. Download the episode and find out whether we agree, where we disagree, and who we would cast in a reboot if that came to pass.
In this fully armed and operational episode of Podcast Stardust, we discuss:
- An excerpt from Lydia Kang’s short story, “No Big Deal” from the pages of Star Wars Insider magazine,
- Matthews Vaughn’s opinion on the direction of Star Wars,
- Whether Star Wars needs to be rebooted,
- The role of creativity, or potential lack thereof, that has driven recent Star Wars movies, and
- For the sake of argument, who would we cast in a rebooted Star Wars franchise.
