The past week brought reports that a new Star Wars movie is in development. In this edition of the news, we take a look at all the known details.
Since before the release of The Rise of Skywalker, Lucasfilm has announced the development of several new Star Wars films. That list includes a Boba Fett movie (which eventually became The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett), a trilogy of films from Rian Johnson, movies to be developed by the creators of Game of Thrones, Rogue Squadron (to be written and directed by Patty Jenkins), a movie created by Taika Waititi (the writer and director of Thor: Ragnarok and Thor: Love and Thunder), and a final film to be produced by Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios. So far, none of those movies have gone into active production, and none of them have a confirmed release date. This past week saw news of another Star Wars film in development. Although not officially announced by Lucasfilm, reliable industry reporters have shared details of what is likely the next Star Wars movie to be released.
In this fully armed and operational episode, we discuss:
- The news from Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter of a new Star Wars movie in development,
- Who is reported to be leading this new Star Wars project,
- Other individuals participating in the writer’s room,
- The director of this movie,
- The scant few details about the movie that are known at this time, and
