We start our year-long series dissecting Attack of the Clones with the opening scenes of the movie and the attempted assassination of Padmé Amidala.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Attack of the Clones! We celebrate by kicking off a year-long series examining the movie. From the attempts on Senator Amidala’s life and the romance between Anakin and Padmé, to Obi-Wan’s investigations and the Battle of Geonosis, we will cover it all over the course of the year.
Ryder Waldron from Idiot’s Array joins us for this discussion and shares some of his earliest thoughts on seeing the movie.
This segment of the discussion starts at the beginning of Attack of the Clones and ends at 14:23.
Also in this fully armed and operational episode, we discuss:
- The opening crawl for Attack of the Clones,
- The cinematic choices made for the opening scenes,
- How George Lucas beautifully displayed Coruscant for audiences,
- Zam Wessel and her attempted assassination of Senator Padmé Amidala,
- Chancellor Palpatine’s meeting with the Jedi and what Palpatine may have been up to,
- The arrival of Padmé and other senators and their discussion with the Jedi, and
- Obi-wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker’s arrival at Padmé’s apartments on Coruscant.
