We return to Rebels with a discussion of a rescue attempt of Minister Tua from Lothal. Darth Vader intercedes with a trap for Hera’s team.
As much as we enjoy The Mandalorian, we no longer have fresh episodes of the show to discuss. Therefore, we are returning to our review of Rebels with a look at the premiere episode of season two: “The Siege of Lothal, Part 1.” The crew of the Ghost, or the Specters, have joined forces with Phoenix Squadron. This causes Kanan some misgivings about getting involved in a larger war. However, his concerns are set aside when an Imperial official on Lothal sends a transmission expressing a desire to defect from the Empire.
On this fully armed and operational episode, we discuss:
- Kanan’s reservations about joining a larger Rebel cause,
- Minister Tua’s motivation for wanting to defect from the Empire,
- The Imperial secrets Minister Tua knows about their purpose on Lothal,
- The voyage to Lothal and the attempted rescue of Tua,
- Agent Kallus and his role as Darth Vader’s aide,
- Kanan and Ezra’s infiltration of the Imperial base, and
- Darth Vader’s reveal at the end of the episode.
