Day 4: Bonus Prompt
We interrupt our regularly scheduled Inktober drawing challenge to bring you a bonus episode. This year, Inktober is partnering with Adult Swim and Genndy Tartakovsky’s new series “Primal” to add four special bonus prompts to the drawing challenge. Artists who use the bonus prompt are entered to win special prizes, such as a signed print from Genndy Tartakovsky. Today’s bonus prompt is “prey.”
Mandalorian Prey
The Mandalorian is a bounty hunter by trade, but in this series he could be considered the hunted as well as the hunter. In the premier chapter, we meet a creature who surfaces from under the ice to snatch ahold of the Razor Crest, considering it its prey. During this confrontation, Mando uses his stun rifle, first appearing in the animated segment from the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special, to scare the creature away. Just prior to this incident, the hover taxi that transported Mando to his ship, succumbed to the creature, known as the ravinak.
Easy Prey
For this entry, I sketched the initial drawing on paper and uploaded a picture of the sketch into the Procreate app on the iPad. I then colored it a opaque purple and printed it on paper. The final drawing was inked with a Zebra brush pen.
Kendall Schroeder saw the original Star Wars in a small theater in the summer of his 10th birthday and immediately fell in love with the Far Away Galaxy. Pretending to be either Jedi Luke Skywalker or Colonel Steve Austin, the Six Million Dollar Man, Kendall always believed he had special powers. Maybe that’s why he truly believes there is good in all people. And, he will stop at nothing to help rid the world of evil. When Kendall is not creating art, he is leading educators as the head of an online school. Kendall lives in West Michigan with his wife and two kids.
