For the 30th anniversary in 2007, the United States Postal Service created a set of 15 highly detailed Star Wars stamps. Courtney Martin was lucky enough to get a set of them.
Check out these collectible Star Wars stamps–the art on them is super high quality. When the stamps came out, my dad scooped some up for me. He didn’t stop there though. He matted and framed the Star Wars stamps as well, and I got them as birthday gifts! He made sure to copy the back of the stamps to showcase the fantastic descriptions of each stamp.
I absolutely love the Amidala stamp, it shows her in the classic Episode I red robe. The artwork is beautiful, each stamp is a great scene from Star Wars. The Millenium Falcon at the top is even a stamp! Another excellent stamp is the Anakin vs. Obi-Wan on Mustafar. It is a scene straight from Revenge of the Sith, and the art is spot on–the bright orange lava exploding behind them as they duel. So beautiful. Terrence McCaffrey and William J.Gicker, Jr. of the US Postal Service designed the stamps. On the back of the stamps are descriptions of each character, ship, or scene. Here is a shot of the back descriptions:
I think my favorite description is the one on Princess Leia, she becomes, “a strong-willed heroine of the Rebel Alliance, serving as a symbol of diplomacy, strength, and hope.” Such a true statement of Leia. She reflects this in every Star Wars film, and certainly in The Last Jedi. The description of Han is excellent as well. “Quick-thinking and skilled with a blaster” and “Enamored with Leia and drawn to her cause, Han finds a focus for his flyboy talents. No longer a reckless adventurer, he becomes one of the Rebellion’s most courageous heroes.” I love the ‘flyboy talents’ remark!
This Star Wars stamp set is a great piece that hangs on my wall. Guests love reading the stamp descriptions and checking out the unique artwork. It’s certainly a one of a kind gift!
