Starfleet calls on Admiral to Picard when an unknown species emerges from a rift in space pleading for assistance in joining the Federation.
Since the first season of Picard concluded, Jean-Luc has settled into a peaceful existence on his winery in France. He also serves as the Chancellor of Starfleet Academy. The only potential complication in his life is a potential romance with his assistance, Laris. Things change rapidly when an unknown species begins to emerge from a rift in space and specifically call on Picard’s assistance…to join the Federation. Picard accepts a call from help from Starfleet, and sets off to meet this new challenge. Then old enemies and enigmas from the past return.
In this episode, we discuss:
- The jarring start of the series that results in Picard ordering a ship to self destruct,
- Picard and Laris working on the Picard family vineyard and the potential for a relationship,
- The role that Picard has with Starfleet Academy,
- Seven of Nine, Soji, Jurati, Rafi, and Rios’s current status and positions in the galaxy,
- The return of the U.S.S. Stargazer,
- Picard’s memories of the past and his mother,
- The arrival of the Borg and what that means, and
- Q’s return at the end of the episode and what is “the path not taken.”
