Here’s a peek into the massive collection of our favorite collecting Hutt!
Last week, I received this image in a text message, and saw a very proud Chris Salton holding a picture of himself inside Star Wars Insider #159. He’s featured in Bantha Tracks, the long-running section of the magazine dedicated to fans.
For Chris, this was a long time coming. We discussed it years ago; in a way, “The Collectors Hutt,” “Brews and Blasters,” and RetroZap were all projects that stemmed from this one conversation. It’s amazing how one goal stemmed so many projects, but despite all these successes, Bantha Tracks was the undiscovered country that Chris had yet to conquer, yet ultimately deserved.
As you will see in the photoset below, Chris leaned into collecting where many of us decided to take a break. I’ve seen a lot of large collections in my day, but none aside from Sansweet’s have left me in awe like the way Chris’ collection does. It’s the best fan-created Star Wars collection I have ever seen firsthand. No sponsorships, no affiliations, nothing–just a lot of work, a lot of hunting, and many, many years of loving Star Wars.
Oh yeah, this is far from all of the collection, by the way.

Joseph Tavano is the owner and editor in chief of RetroZap. Born just months before Luke found out who his father was, he has been fortunate to have had Star Wars in his life as long as he can remember. Growing up just outside of Boston, Massachusetts, he can remember substituting sticks for lightsabers and BMX bikes for speeders. He loves comics, retro games, vintage sci-fi paperbacks, and maps. Though an accomplished drummer, he doesn’t crave adventure (as much) any more, and prefers his old haunts north of Boston, Massachusetts, where he resides with his family. Buy him a glass of whiskey and he’ll return it in kind.
