Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Vanity Fair debuted its special coverage of The Last Jedi this week–featuring cover reveals for its summer issue (four in total), plus exclusives from director Rian Johnson, interviews from cast members, and gorgeous photographs by legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz! The four covers are amazing, featuring Mark Hamill and Daisy Ridley, Carrie Fisher, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, and Kelly Marie Tran. And don’t forget the Dark Side–one cover features Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, and Gwendoline Christie. The article, by David Kamp, itself is insightful, plus online it features a behind-the-scenes look at Annie Leibovitz’s photo shoots with the cast and crew of the film. Also featured are two newcomers to the Star Wars universe–Benicio Del Toro (making his debut as DJ), and Laura Dern (as Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo). The summer issue of Vanity Fair hits newsstands nationally June 6th.
Game of Thrones, Season 7
War is coming to the Seven Kingdoms! The new Game of Thrones trailer has arrived, and it promises a season full of action! Jon Snow leads the North against the White Walkers, Daenerys is bringing an army to Westeros, and the Lannisters are facing war from all sides. Season 7 cannot come soon enough! Game of Thrones returns July 16.
Spider-Man: Homecoming
Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is back! Two new trailers for Spider-Man: Homecoming hit this week. The first trailer is for U.S. audiences. It features a lot of Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr) and how he is working with Peter Parker (Tom Holland) to guide him in his new found abilities. The second is the international trailer, which has a bit more new footage, and explains more of Vulture’s evil motivations. Spider-Man: Homecoming debuts July 7.
Valerian
A visually stunning final trailer for Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets burst onto the scene this week. If the trailer is any indication (which is is), this film is going to be fun, imaginative and action-packed. Not to mention visually vivid and creative. The trailer lays out the plot of the film–two agents are attempting to stop a threat to Alpha (the ‘city of a thousand planets’). The trailer shows a plethora of aliens species and worlds, along with plenty of action sequences. The movie features Dane DeHaan as Valerian, and Cara Delevingne as Laureline. Valerian comes to theaters July 21.
Castlevania
That’s right, the classic video game is coming to tv! Netflix debuted the teaser for Castlevania this week, and it sure is steeped in nostalgia. Castlevania will be an animated series for Netflix. The official description for the series is, “The last surviving member of a disgraced clan fights to save Eastern Europe from Dracula.” The teaser is dark and bloody, but what else is expected from a show based on Castlevania? The series will premiere on Netflix July 7.
