by Joseph Tavano

It’s been quite a day for Star Wars fans–here’s the RetroZap wrap-up.

What a day! What a lovely day! Seemingly out of nowhere, Star Wars fans around the globe were treated to never-before-seen photos from Star Wars: The Force Awakens and a TON of information compared to the trickle we’ve had this summer.

Thank you, Anthony Breznican. You’re doing a fine job.

It started with a rather innocuous but very cool cover reveal of the upcoming Entertainment weekly. Kylo Ren is there, looking fearsome and better than ever. I was on board to get the issue–just because–but what would come afterwards sealed the deal.

Whaa?! New images! Certainly, they speak for themselves. Iconic and captivating–the kindling that sparks imagination. And, in true Star Wars (and Abrams) fashion, they present just as many questions with every reveal.

Cool. Ok, we’ve had days like this over the past few years. New stills, new answers, new mysteries. Comes with the territory of being a Star Wars fan. BUT THEN! Breznican follows up an amazing slideshow with multiple previews of the Entertainment Weekly articles coming out on Friday.

I’ll leave just a link to the Jedi News round-up right here, just in case you don’t want to hear the official news. But, remember this is officially sanctioned communication from Lucasfilm and secretmaster JJ Abrams–if they want us to know and see things, I’m on board.

In a rare occurence, Chris and I recorded Brews and Blasters early this week, which means we didn’t get to discuss all the big news and reveals for this week’s episode. But have no fear: I’ve recorded an addendum that tackles my initial reactions to all the day’s news–look for it at the end of Friday’s new show.

Speaking of Friday’s show–all I got to say is WHOA. Things got crazy. I want to share a little bit, but I don’t want to spoil anything. I’ll leave it by saying that it’s one of the most fun times we’ve ever had in the studio.

FYI – Keep your eyes peeled to Entertainment Weekly on Thursday: Breznican has dubbed it “Han Solo Day.”

I like the sound of that.
