Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker are sent on their first mission a few years after The Phantom Menace in this audiobook by Bryan Q. Miller.
In recent years, Lucasfilm has been filling the eras between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, and the time after Return of the Jedi but before The Force Awakens with a lot of new canon material. The time between The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones has remained rather sparse for Star Wars content. That seems like it might be changing as of late due to the 25th anniversary of The Phantom Menace. Just a couple of weeks ago, Lucasfilm Press dropped a surprise audio book on Audible. This book tells the story of Anakin’s first mission as Obi-Wan’s padawan three years after The Phantom Menace. In this episode of Podcast Stardust, we are breaking it all down. Our discussion includes Anakin’s dissatisfaction with life as a Padawan, Obi-Wan’s struggles as a master, their mission to Varl to look for a Republic spy, plenty of podracing, and much more.
In this fully armed and operational episode of Podcast Stardust, we discuss:
- Our non-spoiler thoughts on this audiobook overall,
- The state of Anakin and Obi-Wan’s relationship a few years after the Battle of Naboo,
- How Anakin and Obi-Wan got sent on their first mission,
- The portrayal of Anakin and Obi-Wan’s characterization,
- The podracing that happens in the book,
- Many of the references and Easter eggs that appear in the story, and more.
