The crew of the Ghost head to Geonosis to find Saw Gerrera and what happened to the Geonosians when the Empire left the planet.
Star Wars: Rebels proved to be a linchpin for Star Wars projects during its run. This is demonstrated again with this episode that ties the animated series to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. When Hera, Kanan, and the crew of the Ghost are dispatched to Geonosis, they initially have no idea why. However, when they arrive, Senator Bail Organa gives them their mission: find out what happened to Saw Gerrera and his men. They went to Geonosis to find out what happened to the Geonosians and what the Empire was up to there, but they never returned. Can the Rebels crack this mystery? We discuss all of this and more in the first of two episodes investigating the ghosts and secrets of Geonosis.
In this fully armed and operational episode, we discuss:
- The timing of this episode in relation to the release of Rogue One,
- The development of Saw Gerrera and his portrayal in this episode,
- What happened to the Geonosians,
- How the audience knows more about what is going on in this episode than the characters,
- The shield generator and the droid attack, and
- Rex and Saw Gerrera’s relationship.
