Podcast Stardust #243: Victory’s Price

by Podcast Stardust

Alphabet Squadron and Shadow Wing square off for a final time in Victory’s Price, the conclusion to Alexander Freed’s trilogy.

The Galactic Civil War is rapidly coming to a close. However, there is still a piece of unfinished business for Alphabet Squadron: destroy Shadow Squadron. Now under the command of Soran Keize, and with the apparent assistance of Yrica Quell, Shadow Wing continues to carry out Operation: Cinder. However, Keize’s motivations for doing so are unclear. As the Republic and the Empire set themselves for a collision course at the Battle of Jakku, Alphabet Squadron and Shadow Wing are looking for answers and guidance before their conflict draws to an epic conclusion.

Joe Tavano from RetroZap, Brews and Blasters, and Dune Cast joins Dennis to review this novel. On this fully armed and operational podcast, they discuss:

  • Alexander Freed’s writing style,
  • How this book compares to the previous two novels in the series,
  • Soran Keize’s motivations and missions,
  • The character arc of the main characters (Yrica Quell, Wyl Lark, Nath Tensent, Kairos, and Chass na Chadic),
  • Hera’s representation and a cool action scene involving the Rebel general,
  • The Messenger Droid, and
  • Some of the strange new worlds.
