SPOILER ALERT! Do not read until you’ve watched S05E10 “Mother’s Mercy.”
Wow. This Game of Thrones episode should have been titled. “Game of Cliffhangers,” because we all have a lot to look forward to in season 6.
In 10 months, one of two things will happen. One would be that George R. R. Martin hurries up, finishes The Winds of Winter, and the entire publishing process moves at world-record speed to get the book released. Martin is arguably the world’s most popular living writer, so it isn’t out of the realm of possibility. However, despite being arguably the world’s most popular writer, Martin is not an example of a disciplined writer. He doesn’t write every day. When it happens, it happens. Which leads us to number two:
The TV show is going to outpace the books, finally, and will become the medium of record; canon, which means that what happens in season six is anyone’s guess.
So, what will happen to Arya, Sansa, Brienne, Tyrion, Cersei, Jamie, Pod, Sam, Stannis, Melisandre, Daenerys, and the rest of the gang? Who knows, and I absolutely love that fact.
