Blade Runner 2049
What. A. Trailer. Blade Runner 2049 looks absolutely amazing! The visuals are stunning and the music is epic. Harrison Ford is at top Harrison Ford-like levels–he’s grim, gritty, and throwing punches. Ryan Gosling’s character, K, looks to be searching for something, but the trailer isn’t showing what. Plus Jared Leto’s character looks super creepy and evil. The story is a bit mysterious at this point, but one thing is for sure–Director Denis Villeneuve has brought back the feel of the original Blade Runner. Blade Runner 2049 opens October 6.
Judge Dredd: Mega-City One
I am the law! Judge Dredd is coming, and he’s getting the small screen treatment! A live-action ensemble drama is in early development right now to bring the comic book character to television. The producers, Jason and Chris Kingsley, said, “Thanks to the legions of fans who have kept up pressure on social media, and a lot of background work and enthusiasm, we aim to make a big budget production that will satisfy both our vast comics audience and the even greater general screen-watching public.” No word yet on a network or streaming service for the show, but it seems it will get picked up soon.
New Mutants
The New Mutants cast is finally forming up! This week it was announced that two big time names are joining X-Men spinoff: Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch) will star as Magik, and Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams will portray Wolfsbane. Josh Boone will be directing the movie, based on a script he wrote with Knate Lee. The film is set to start production in July, with a tentative release date of April 13, 2018.
Deadpool
The merc with the mouth is coming to tv! Marvel Studios and Fox are teaming up for a 10 episode animated Deadpool series. It will be very adult in nature (it is Deadpool after all), with one very special showrunner. Future Lando Calrissian, aka Donald Glover, will be the showrunner, with his brother Stephen collaborating. The series is set for FXX, but no names have been announced for who will lend voices to the characters.
