Two trailers and a huge comic-con? Yep, Mike Audette reports about it all!

By Mike Audette // WOW! What a weekend we had. Between an international trailer for The Force Awakens, a debut of the first television spot for the film, and Rhode Island Comic Con, it was an eventful time to be a Star Wars fan!
On Friday morning we woke up to the sounds of new Star Wars footage–something that is becoming the norm as opposed to the rarity. The Japanese trailer gave us some new dialogue as well as some new visual shots, all stemming from footage we’ve already seen. This film is going to be absolutely stunning when it comes to visuals! Some of the shots from this trailer were out-of-this-world gorgeous and are absolutely going to wow audiences–that’s a guarantee.
More interesting things happened Sunday morning when the official twitter account of Twitter debuted the first television spot for The Force Awakens. (Yes that’s right, Twitter’s Twitter broke the news) Here we get to see even MORE new shots and dialogue (or narration, I don’t think were sure yet), which is quite captivating. It is definitely believed to be Maz Kanata providing the voice to the words and the focus on the “eyes” of the characters is no doubt a reference to the character posters released last week that feature the right eyes obstructed by weapons.
Besides these new sets of footage from The Force Awakens, this weekend was Rhode Island Comic Con! Going to a con is always one of my favorite things to do. The sensory overload that happens when you walk into a con is something that never gets old. While RICC isn’t comparable to events like SW Celebration or New York CC in size, it’s certainly comparable in star power. This year had plenty of notable Star Wars guests, including all four actors to play Boba Fett on screen! Pictured here you can see my Boba piece signed by Daniel Logan, Jeremy Bulloch, John Morton, and Dickey Beer. I had met all but Dickey previously and they are all wonderful guys to talk to. All four then got on stage together with moderator Kevin Liell to talk and share stories of what it was like “to be the man behind the mask.” If you have the chance to see or meet any of these guys you are doing yourself a disservice in not taking that chance!
