In this installment of The RetroZap Artist Series, James Volpe pays homage to another obscure Star Wars character, Oppo Rancisis.
So there is this Jedi, right. Oppo Rancisis. He is a snake with four arms, long fingernails and had a man bun before man buns were cool. He was on the Jedi Council. Though not confirmed, rumor has it from reliable sources, he is still alive after order 66.
The Obscure Character List
Oppo Rancisis is a character in Star Wars I was unfamiliar with as a fan. He definitely fits in the obscure character list shared by Ki-Adi Mundi and Constable Zuvio. Not the major player like Ki Adi but got more than the 2 frames Zuvio was shown. There was his appearance in the Genndy Tartakovsky Clone Wars microseries and brief show in Episode I where I vaguely remembered him. It wasn’t until I started listening to Brews and Blasters that I truly understood the awesomeness of Oppo. Joe and Chris even have an award named after him given out for doing a review for their show.
“The character sort of speaks for himself. To know him is to love him.” -Joe Tavano
I wrote an iTunes review and received the coveted Oppo award I treasure to this day.
The Skate Sticker Treatment
So I figured he should have his own skate sticker treatment just like the Constable Zuvio Posse. Over breakfast it hit me, I should do another famous design parody. This time I used the OBEY design done by street artist and illustrator Shepard Fairey to create my design. It fit perfectly with OBEY / OPPO.
I stylized the picture of Oppo to look like the recognizable Andre the Giant design graffiti/stencil art. There you have it.
Leave a review on iTunes for Brews and Blasters to get your very won Oppo award. Join the Oppo Posse and show everyone he is the most awesome Jedi around.
