It’s time for the Animanicast with Tom Ruegger Discussing the Kids’ WB Years of Animaniacs
Join your hosts Joey, Nathan and Kelly in the “Animanicast!” A podcast dedicated to Animaniacs! Today Tom Ruegger joins the podcast once again! This time, he talks all about the Kids’ WB years of Animaniacs and discuss some stand out episodes of season 3-5.
Each week, Joey, Nathan and Kelly revisit an episode of Animaniacs in the order in which they first premiered. Today the creator of Animaniacs, Tom Ruegger, joins the show once again to talk about the show and its transition to the Kids WB. Tom discusses some of the memorable episodes in the later seasons of Animaniacs and talks about some of the challenges of moving the show to the Kids’ WB.
Moving to the Kids’ WB
Tom talks about the challenges switching from Fox Kids to Kids WB. Animaniacs went from a show that was incredibly popular and easily accessible on Fox to a network that was only accessible to those lucky enough to have the Kids WB in their area. Tom talks about his frustrations with WB executives, how Pinky and the Brain were encouraged to be more like a sitcom, and how the executives attempted to change Animaniacs. He also shares his thoughts on some selected episodes of Animaniacs’ later seasons and how it all came to a close.
