It’s time for the Animanicast: Discussing Tiny Toons Episode 48
Join your hosts Joey, Nathan and Kelly in the “Animanicast!” A podcast dedicated to Animaniacs! Today Joey, Nathan and Kelly talk about another episode of Tiny Toon Adventures. This time it’s “Mr. Popular’s Rules of Cool” featuring “Slugfest” and other great segments.
Each week, Joey, Nathan and Kelly revisit an episode of Animaniacs, Tiny Toon Adventures, Pinky and the Brain, or Freakazoid! Today, your hosts talk about a classic episode of Tiny Toon Adventures that features a parody of Ninja Turtles and lots of tips for anyone that want to be cool!
Mr. Popular’s Rules of Cool
Hamton goes to Mr. Popular (a.k.a. Buster Bunny) to ask for some tips on being cool. Buster and Babs try to show Hamton some tips on fashion, music and self confidence. In the end it turns out Hamton doesn’t really need their help and turns out to be a natural DJ!
Slugfest
It’s a classic Tiny Toons parody of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles featuring the Immature Radioactive Samurai Slugs. Plucky and Hamton decide to be samurais just like their favorite TV show slugs. Unfortunately it results with them being hit on the head repeatedly and then chased around the country by the Iodizer!
The hosts discuss their favorite moments from this episode and their memories of watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as kids. Joey even brings out an old photo album where he saved clippings of Ninja Turtles jokes and drawings that could be found in the packaging of the toys.
Venison Anyone?
Montana Max thinks that hunting deer is cool but a young buck named Vinnie disagrees. Vinnie mocks Montana and makes his hunting trip a disaster. Many of the bits are inspired by Bugs Bunny shorts. The cartoon is pretty harmless but not hilarious. The hosts discuss how cartoons featuring humor with guns would probably not be featured in cartoons these days.
