Finally more info on Star Wars: Bloodline, Lego Star Wars The Force Awakens is announced, and an amazing new episode of Star Wars Rebels. Not a bad week!
By Mike Audette // On Thursday, USA Today came out with an exclusive reveal of the cover for Star Wars: Bloodline also featuring an excerpt from the novel. Coming out this May from Lost Stars author Claudia Gray, Bloodline tells the story of Leia Organa while shes in a good place in her career in the New Republic senate. She soon starts to realize that the New Republic is starting to make the same mistakes of the past and not see the threat looming over their heads. I’m very much looking forward to this novel which will give us the political state of the Galaxy that is present in The Force Awakens.

In The Force Awakens news the movie keeps chugging along in the theaters. This week it broke through $900 million nationwide and over $2 billion worldwide. It’s pretty amazing how the masses just keep churning out to see this film. Some of the rumors flying around involve Lucasfilm putting in the Rogue One trailer before the movie to keep the juice flowing. It does make sense and would for sure get the film another bump in sales that might help in get the top spot from Avatar. Some other news coming from Rogue One came from Nuremberg Toy Fair in Germany where they had the costumes on display from the cast photo that was revealed last year at D23.
This past Tuesday a “mystery trailer” hit the web and it was not for Rogue One as some had presumed, but it was for Lego Star Wars The Force Awakens the video game! The Lego Star Wars games have been a fan favorite ever since they first came out years ago back when the major game systems were the PlayStation 2, original Xbox, and Nintendo GameCube. The games manage to seamlessly weave in the endless fun of Lego, the authentic feel of Star Wars, and brilliantly great and comedic writing. The game is releasing this coming June on myriad gaming systems.

The Force Awakens is still ringing in the ears of the public consciousness and the fan art and photo-shops and memes are constantly coming in droves. One of the biggest to hit was a photoshopped family picture featuring Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Adam Driver. It then went on to spawn off it’s own parody spoofing off the hit Netflix series, Making a Murderer. There’s something about Star Wars fandom that is able to churn out things like this that capture everyone’s imaginations. Makes the community feel that much closer-knit.
As usual on Wednesday we got a new episode of Rebels and it introduced us to one of the most amazing pieces of Star Wars music we’ve ever seen. Kevin Kiner gave us this hauntingly beautiful song titled Journey Into The Star Cluster and it blew me away. The strings pull you right in, the tempo is unnerving and ominous, and the bombastic chorus at the end just sends shivers down your spine. The metalhead in me absolutely can’t get enough of this song. It would play perfectly as an album intro which unleashes into a sheer wall of sound to hit you right in the chest with the weight of a boulder.
