Our celebration of Revenge of the Sith continues with a discussion of Matthew Stover’s novelization.
One of the benefits of a good movie novelization is the opportunity to dive deeper into the story told in the corresponding movie. This is especially true for Matt Stover’s novelization of Revenge of the Sith. Originally released in 2005, and re-released this year, Stover’s adaptation of the film dives deep into the psyche of Anakin Skywalker and other characters as they navigate the war and developments around Palpatine’s rise to power as Emperor. Intrigue, strife, stress, and desperation all take center stage as Anakin looks for a way to save Padmé from the fate that haunts his nightmares. Meanwhile, Obi-Wan Kenobi attempts to balance the needs of the Jedi Order and his friendship with Anakin. There is a lot to get into, and we are diving deep in this episode of Podcast Stardust.
In this fully armed and operational episode of Podcast Stardust, we discuss:
- Our overall thoughts on Matthew Stover’s novelization,
- How the novelization relies on what is now Legends material,
- The inner thoughts of the characters that reshape the story of Revenge of the Sith,
- Political details included in the novel that enhance the intrigue,
- Some of the alterations in dialogue, and more.
