It’s Steve Glosson’s birthday, and he’s doing a marathon to raise money for CURE Childhood Cancer.
Hey RetroZappers–
I don’t do this much. Actually, I only do it once a year–for this great cause. I believe in what Steve is doing, and I urge you all to give whatever you can. RetroZap receives nothing for promoting this; the GOLiverse receives nothing as well. But the money raised today can make a difference in a child’s life. It all goes directly to CURE.
Cancer destroys lives; cancer destroys families. I hate this disease passionately, and instead of feeling powerless, I try to help by contributing to causes just like this.
Plus, Steve is podcasting live ALL DAY. That’s pretty awesome in-and-of itself.
To donate, hit the CURE logo below. Thank you. -Joe
The Geek Out Loud Podcast Network (The GOLiverse) is teaming up with CURE – www.curechildhoodcancer.org – for the second year in a row by hosting a podcast marathon to raise money to help fight and cure childhood cancer.
In 2015, The GOLiverse raised over $1600 for CURE with a goal of $1500. This year, the podcasters of the GOLiverse are at it again with an even higher goal of $3000.
The GOLiverse Marathon for CURE will take place on Saturday January 23, 2015 beginning at 10am Eastern Time with The Big Honkin Show, following the Big Honkin Show, many of the podcasts in the network will be podcasting live at www.mixlr.com/goliverse . Shows including the flagship show Geek Out Loud, Disney Vault Talk, the most well-produced wrestling podcast by fans Mark Out Loud, Rock Out Loud, and others will all be included in the days event that will go until it’s over.
Giving to CURE has been made easy for the purposes of this marathon. Listeners need only direct their browsers to www.geekoutonline.com/cure to donate DIRECTLY to CURE.
Also, in conjunction with the marathon one loyal listener has posted an ebay auction for a rare Topps Force Awakens Gold Medallion card on Ebay. The auction will be able to be found by going to www.geekoutonline.com/cureauction .
The GOLiverse is proud to work with CURE to help bring an end to childhood cancer in our lifetime and hopes that everyone will tune in as they are able and give what they can to help in this fight.

Joseph Tavano is the owner and editor in chief of RetroZap. Born just months before Luke found out who his father was, he has been fortunate to have had Star Wars in his life as long as he can remember. Growing up just outside of Boston, Massachusetts, he can remember substituting sticks for lightsabers and BMX bikes for speeders. He loves comics, retro games, vintage sci-fi paperbacks, and maps. Though an accomplished drummer, he doesn’t crave adventure (as much) any more, and prefers his old haunts north of Boston, Massachusetts, where he resides with his family. Buy him a glass of whiskey and he’ll return it in kind.
