The Force, Jedi, Darth Vader, and the Death Star are just some of the iconic elements of Star Wars. Equally iconic, but often overlooked, are the stormtroopers. The white armored soldiers of the Empire litter the screen in throughout the original trilogy of movies, animated series, and other Disney+ Star Wars shows. In fact, the stormtroopers almost become part of the background at times. In this episode of Podcast Stardust, we discuss the history and role of the stormtrooper, and then we ask the question: are stormtroopers elite soldiers? To attempt to answer that question, we look at the portrayal of the stormtroopers across Star Wars. We also look at their training, recruitment, and utilization.
