By Mike Audette // Another week down, another week closer to The Force Awakens. The month of November is shaping up to be quite the awesome month in Star Wars. Rebels season two is in full swing, Battlefront is coming out in the middle of the month (I’m getting it for PlayStation 4 for those interested!), and this week saw the release of Battlefront: Twilight Company.
Last weekend was Halloween, and there wasn’t any lack of Star Wars-themed costumes and pumpkins. To my surprise, my friend carved a Death Star pumpkin! He’s not the biggest fan in the world and did it all from memory. I thought it was beyond awesome! It never ceases to amaze me just how much Star Wars invades popular Holidays. Not just related to dressing up for Halloween but even the simplest ones like New Years is celebrated by the watching of Star Wars. Not to mention this coming Christmas will be unlike any preceding Christmas in our history as fans.
This week also featured some ‘character poster’ reveals for The Force Awakens with images of Leia, Han, Finn, Rey, and Kylo all being represented. All the posters feature the characters right eye covered by some obstruction, all weapons except for Leia. This obviously led to the speculation to rumble on Twitter. Why is it their right eyes? Is Rey’s staff a lightsaber? What’s Kylo’s next welding job? Where’s Luke? I chose not to get into the speculation game from promo releases from this; I just don’t believe they would give away anything plot wise in marketing like this (I have a degree in Marketing, I know what they’re doing! lol.)
